The Grand Tour

I've been meaning to make this video for weeks. Check out our place and our gardens! If you can't see the QuickTime video, click here for the Flash version. We're gardening using the Grow Biointensive methods we learned in Willits, CA from John Jeavons and Carol Cox. All hand tilled baby. Everything is growing wonderfully.

Wow! great garden! I hope things grow that nicely in Portland =)

May I suggest motorcycle glasses for gardening? They are like sunglasses with an elastic strap and they have daytime lenses and nighttime ones. We use them for burning man so you have probably seen them before. they would work great for the bugs and are a bit less sweaty.

Have fun!

You guys have a killer setup there. You'll be eating good soon. If you take the bell off Battlecat, you might get some free rabbit meat delivered to you every once in a while. She's pretty fast in the open field.

Ryanne's new blog: "The Goggled Gardener" - ha ha! The place looks great! I tweeted responses to your video realtime - that was sorta dumb of me. If you find yourself needing to use up a lot of green tomatoes, this recipe for green tomato pie is over 100yrs old but really rocks. Tastes like tart apple pie and freezes well.

It looks like a great place and it seems that you guys have really made your mark on it.

Hope things continue to go well for you guys.

Great "green" video! So save the mint for mojitos, great tip on grass clippings for mulch. And rabbits, kill'em and grill'em.

Yeah for beets and goggles!

What an amazing video. Your hair is getting long, your gardens look awesome, your house and land are so refreshing. Very happy for you and Jay.

That was amazing. Did you have any idea you'd be here when you moved to Manhattan 3 years ago?

Also, Battlecat is so cute running around after you.

Amazing! What a setup. As you say, totally miraculous that all that stuff grows - especially from seeds. Inspiring and cool to see where you are. Plus the long haired hippy chick look suits you.

John loves the buggles! We were both wondering why everything looked so wet!

Are you canning the pending tomato extravaganza?

You both look pretty damn happy and relaxed. Jealous.

Kitty, who had a Paris rooftop adventure this afternoon, sends furry waves to VA!

It's idyllic. Looks like you've got loads of different stuff growing. Props for growing grains. Soon you'll have enough for a bowl of cereal! Has it been an culture shock moving to the mountains from SF?

This was great! You guys are doing so much, it's very cool, though I thought, surely you would have had the green houses up by the first week :) . We've had our best year ever growing food, partly inspired by your visit. Based on our experience, by the way, your squashes looked fine.
