Cambodia: Day 1
jay and i made it to cambodia! the first day was recovering from the long flight and checking the place out. damn internet is slow here. this 20mb file took two attempts, one canceled after an hour upload to blip. the second, i'm FTPing using internet explorer to my own server. nutty, but not impossible!

I went to Japan alone for ten days a few years ago when I wanted to feel really alone. It worked. Partners in crime and goodness can be better. Speaking of, glad you still have those flip flops he gave you. When I think about love, I think about Jay giving you shoes last summer - no lie.

PS - I'm watching the video again and forgot to mention that some fuck in Boston set a cat on fire and threw it into a glass window, killing the kitty and scaring the shit out of everyone. My cat's on my lap as I write this. People can be sick d-bags. Who hurts the furry friends? I will never understand.

I can barely manage to post a single unedited shot direct from my phone camera, and you put together *this* on your *first day*??
You do the best travel videos. You know what I love most? The sound cutting from shot to shot, the atmosphere of it hitting me before I've even had time to register what the image is. And of course that it's totally unnarrated, moving snapshots, with snippets of talking, not doing the thinking for us - both filmmaker & viewer working together. This is the film of tomorrow :) And a perfect example of why today we're cancelling our subscription to satellite TV.

I'm so jealous! Cambodia is such a beautiful country and the locals are genuine and kind despite the horrors they've experienced not so long ago.
Be careful of the 'happy' pizzas and please don't go blowing up any cows with hand grenades. If you do, make sure you're recording it all of course!
Really felt like I was on the trip with you. There is a filmmaker named Camerado who lives in Cambodia. I'll try to find his contact information. He made a great documentary on Bookseelers in NYC. He did a fascinating vlog on how the "circus arts" in Cambodia were being revived after nearly being totally eliminated during the 1970s.gervin
